This summer 2020, we should have discovered Ryan Reynolds on the big screen in “Free Guy”, the new Shawn Levy comedy. The movie has been eventually postponed to May 21, 2021 (may differ) because of the coronavirus epidemic. Here is the trailer.

CAST

For this original comedy, the Canadian directors has bet on one of the most coveted actors of the moment: Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Deadpool, Pokemon Detective Pikachu, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw…). By his sides, we also have Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Lil Rey Howery (Get Out, Good Boys), Taika Waititi (Avengers: Endgame, Jojo Rabbit) and even Joe Keery (Stranger Things, Molly’s Game…).

PLOT

A bank employee once discovers he is a non-player character of an online video game and decides to become the hero of his own story, at the risk of rewriting it. Now evolving in a world he doesn’t know the limits, he’ll do everything to save it his own way before it’s too late…

In addition to Reynolds, the film also features Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) who stars as a video game programmer who enters the game world to help Reynolds’ character, while director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) stars as game company CEO.

The film also stars Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery and Utkarsh Ambudkar in pivotal roles.

The official synopsis of ‘Free Guy’ reads: “A bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game decides to become the hero of his own story… one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way… before it is too late.”

Reynolds and Levy also serve as producers on the film alongside Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti, and Adam Kolbrenner. Josh McLaglen, Mary McLaglen, Dan Levine, George Dewey, and Michael Riley McGrath are executive producers.
